Shopping for basics can be dull, and the idea of a minimalist wardrobe may seem daunting. However, it doesn't need to be, as Portland brand Older Brother proves.

Their unisex pieces are sewn and naturally hand-dyed in LA, and made from eco-conscious fabrics, such as cotton grown under the Sustainable Cotton Project in California, an initiative which works with local family-run farms.

The combination of classic, yet laid back tailoring, and an interesting variety of indigo and apricot shades, as well as black and white of course, make a convincing case for contemporary minimalism that's everything but dull.

And finally, once you've loved your Older Brother piece to death, you can bury it in your garden where it will fully decompose, going full cycle!
