If wood frames aren't your thing, Swiss brand VIU might be able to help you out with their large choice of smart and sustainably made prescription and sunglasses.
Designed in Switzerland by VIU co-founder Fabrice Aeberhard, each pair is made by a renown family-run manufacturer in the Italian Dolomites.
The key ingredient for these stylish frames is sustainably made (Mazzucchelli) and sourced (Eastman, US) cotton acetate, known for its long-lasting quality, as well as lightness, flexibility and a great range of colours. Some of VIU's latest models also include metal.
As with other brands following a business model which omits "the middleman", prices are kept considerably low and if you don't happen to live near one of VIU's points of sale in Switzerland or Germany, you can either order a free-of-charge "try at home" set of four optical glasses, or have a go at their "virtual try on" on their website.
